Found in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage boys and girls on different parts of its campus who have a history of behavior difficulties, strained family relationships, or any other emotional problems.
Wolf Creek specializes in attachment disorders and other serious relational and self-destructive behavioral difficulties in boys and girls. Our staff is highly qualified and trained to deal with and treat various psychological disorders that many other boarding schools that call themselves “therapeutic” are not equipped to handle.
We are a faith-based program focused on integrity, character, and accountability. Each of the teens who attend our program can be productive citizens when given guidance and a chance to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy provides a safe home environment for teen boys and girls who have gone off course. Residents live in a comfortable home with a husband and wife team of houseparents and residential assistants. In our family model, boys and girls assist with daily chores common to home life and discover how to respect authority and cooperate with their peers.
Parent involvement is very important to the effectiveness of our therapeutic boarding school program.
Parents receive weekly verbal and email reports and play a role in the progress of their son or daughter.
For the teen, each morning commences with small group counseling sessions about anger management, respect for authority, and lots of other topics relevant to teens. Weekly individual sessions help residents make progress toward their behavioral goals. Our program also includes a substance abuse program to cope with issues related to drug abuse or any other addictive behaviors such as eating disorders or cutting.
Our accredited school lets students succeed at their own pace.
Under our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can complete missing credits in their education and work successfully at their unique speed. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the workbooks and help students who need extra assistance with their work. Credits transfer easily to other schools, and graduates earn a high school diploma. Our recently added skills development center offers a skilled trade as well as vital skills for any manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for brand new employees, and other disciplines.
To help keep teens physically active we conduct daily PE classes including a number of sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Every week, social activities also vary and include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums plus much more.
