Situated in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage girls and boys on different parts of its campus who have ongoing behavior difficulties, broken family relationships, or any other emotional problems.
Wolf Creek specializes in attachment disorders and other serious relational and self-destructive behavioral difficulties in boys and girls. Our staff is highly qualified and trained to deal with and treat various psychological disorders that many other boarding schools that call themselves “therapeutic” are not equipped to handle.
We are a faith-based program devoted to integrity, character, and personal responsibility. All the teens who attend our program can learn to be productive individuals when given guidance and the opportunity to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy offers a protective home environment for teen boys and girls who lack direction. Residents live in a comfortable home with a husband and wife team of houseparents and residential assistants. Inside our family model, teenagers participate in daily chores common to home life and learn to respect authority and interact with their peers.
Parent involvement is important to the success of our therapeutic boarding school program.
Parents receive weekly verbal and email reports and remain involved in progress of their son or daughter.
For the teen, each day starts off with small group counseling sessions covering anger management, respect for authority, and a lot of other topics relevant to teens. Weekly individual sessions help residents make progress toward their counseling goals. Our program also includes a substance abuse program to manage issues related to drug and alcohol use or any other addictive behaviors such as eating disorders or cutting.
Our accredited school lets students succeed at their own pace.
Using our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can catch up in their education and work successfully at their very own rate. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the workbooks and help students who require extra input for their work. Credits transfer easily to public and private schools, and graduates earn a high school diploma. Our new skills development center teaches a skilled trade as well as vital skills for any manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for first time employees, as well as other disciplines.
To help keep teens physically active we run daily PE classes including various sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Every week, social activities also vary and may include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums and more.
