Helping Teens Reach their Full Potential
Located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage girls and boys on different parts of its campus who have ongoing behavior difficulties, broken family relationships, and other emotional problems. We are a faith-based program devoted to integrity, character, and personal responsibility. Each of the teens who attend our program can grow into productive citizens when given guidance and a chance to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy gives a protective home environment for teen boys and girls who lack direction. Residents live in a comfortable home with a married couple team of houseparents and assistants. In our family model, boys and girls help with daily chores typical of home life and learn to respect authority and get along with their peers.
Keeping Parents Involved with the Program for Restoration for the Whole Family
Parent involvement is very important to the effectiveness of our therapeutic boarding school program. Parents stay informed with weekly verbal and email reports and participate in the progress of their child.
For the teen, each day starts with small group counseling sessions about anger management, respect for authority, and lots of other topics of importance to teens. Weekly individual sessions help residents make progress toward their behavioral goals. Our program also includes a substance abuse program to cope with issues related to drug abuse and other addictive behaviors including eating disorders or cutting.
Accredited School Lets Students Succeed at Their Own Pace
With our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can catch up in their education and work successfully at their own rate. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the classwork and help students who need extra help with their work. Credits transfer easily to public and private schools, and those who complete the curriculum earn a high school diploma. Our recently added skills development center teaches a skilled trade as well as vital skills for any manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for new employees, and other disciplines.
To keep teens physically active we run daily PE classes including a number of sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Weekly social activities also vary and can include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums and more.
