Helping Teens Reach their Full Potential
Perfectly situated in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage girls and boys on different parts of its campus who have a record of behavior difficulties, broken family relationships, or any other emotional issues. We are a faith-based program dedicated to integrity, character, and personal responsibility. All the teens who attend our program can learn to be productive members of society when given guidance and an opportunity to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy sets up a protective home environment for teen boys and girls who have gone off course. Residents live in a comfortable home run by a husband and wife team of houseparents and assistants. In this family model, teenagers are responsible for daily chores typical of home life and learn to respect authority and get along with their peers.
Keeping Parents Involved in the Program for Restoration for the Whole Family
Parent involvement is important to the effectiveness of our therapeutic boarding school program. Parents stay up to date with weekly verbal and email reports and participate in the progress of their teen.
For the teen, each day begins with small group counseling sessions about anger management, respect for authority, and many other topics highly relevant to teens. Weekly individual sessions help teens make progress toward their therapeutic goals. In addition, we have a substance abuse program to deal with issues related to drug use or any other addictive behaviors for example eating disorders or cutting.
Accredited School Lets Students Succeed at Their Own Pace
Under our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can complete missing credits in their education and work successfully at their particular rate. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the classwork and help students who require extra help with their work. Credits transfer easily to public and private schools, and those who complete the curriculum earn a high school diploma. Our recently added skills development center instructs students in a skilled trade as well as vital skills for a manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for first time employees, along with other disciplines.
To help keep teens physically active we hold daily PE classes including a number of sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Every week, social activities also vary and include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums and more.
