Believing Teens Can Reach their Full Potential
Perfectly situated in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage boys and girls on different parts of its campus who have a history of behavior difficulties, strained family relationships, and other emotional problems. We are a faith-based program focused on integrity, character, and personal responsibility. All of the teens who attend our program can learn to be productive members of society when given guidance and the opportunity to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy provides a nurturing home environment for teen boys and girls who lack direction. Residents live in a comfortable home with a husband and wife team of houseparents and assistants. In this family model, boys and girls assist with daily chores common to home life and learn how to respect authority and interact with their peers.
Keeping Parents Involved in the Program for Restoration for the Whole Family
Parent involvement is very important to the success of our therapeutic boarding school program. Parents stay informed with weekly verbal and email reports and participate in the progress of their child.
For the teen, every day begins with small group counseling sessions covering anger management, respect for authority, and a lot of other topics highly relevant to teens. Weekly individual sessions help residents make progress toward their counseling goals. In addition, we have a substance abuse program to handle issues related to drug use and other addictive behaviors such as eating disorders or cutting.
Accredited School Lets Students Succeed at Their Own Pace
Using our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can fill in gaps in their education and work successfully at their particular speed. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the workbooks and help students who require extra input for their work. Credits transfer easily to public and private schools, and those who complete the curriculum earn a high school diploma. Our new skills development center instructs students in a skilled trade along with vital skills for any manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for first time employees, as well as other disciplines.
To keep teens physically active we run daily PE classes including various sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Every week, social activities also vary and can include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums and more.
