Helping Teens Reach their Full Potential
Found in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, Wolf Creek Academy serves teenage boys and girls on different parts of its campus who have ongoing behavior difficulties, damaged family relationships, or other emotional problems. We are a faith-based program focused on integrity, character, and accountability. Each of the teens who attend our program can learn to be productive members of society when given guidance and a chance to reach their potential.
Wolf Creek Academy provides a protective home environment for teen boys and girls who have lost their way. Residents live in a comfortable home with a husband and wife team of houseparents and assistants. In this family model, girls and boys assist with daily chores typical of home life and discover how to respect authority and relate well with their peers.
Keeping Parents Involved in the Program for Restoration for the Whole Family
Parent involvement is important to the success of our therapeutic boarding school program. Parents receive weekly verbal and email reports and play a role in the progress of their child.
For the teen, each day begins with small group counseling sessions regarding anger management, respect for authority, and a lot of other topics of importance to teens. Weekly individual sessions help residents make progress toward their behavioral goals. We also have a substance abuse program to handle issues related to drug use or other addictive behaviors like eating disorders or cutting.
Accredited School Lets Students Find Success at Their Own Pace
With our fully accredited Christian curriculum, students can fill in gaps in their education and work successfully at their very own rate. Teachers and assistants monitor progress through the workbooks and help students who need extra input for their work. Credits transfer easily to public and private schools, and those who complete the curriculum earn a high school diploma. Our recently added skills development center offers a skilled trade along with vital skills for the manufacturing environment including welding skills, shop safety, work ethic for first time employees, and other disciplines.
To help keep teens physically active we hold daily PE classes including a variety of sports and seasonal outdoor adventure activities, including hiking (the Appalacian Trail is nearby) and skiing. Weekly social activities also vary and may include bowling, movies, church, visiting museums plus more.
